Almost Here! (April 2013)

Almost Here is a feature where each month I talk about upcoming things in the YA world that I’m excited about. This includes new book releases, movies of YA books, book signing events, etc. Keep in mind that this is definitely not everything. It’s only the stuff that I know about and/or am most interested in.

Book Releases

Most of these have been on my to-read list for a while, but I don’t think I’ve blogged about any of them before. Out of all of them, I’m most excited about The Program. And I only discovered Acid like a week ago!

Book Events

Three YA Authors

First up, in early April, my favorite local bookstore, Blue Willow Bookshop, is hosting an event with three authors I’m only mildly acquainted with. However, I am intrigued by some of their books, so I talked my sister into joining me at the event! We get to see C. C. Hunter, Alyson Noel, and Rainbow Rowell!

Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter Echo by Alyson Noel Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Out of all these authors’ books, I’ve only read Fated by Alyson Noel, but I’m dying to read Eleanor & Park!

Teen Book Con!!!

My favorite local bookstore, Blue Willow Bookshop, hosts an awesome YA event each spring – Teen Book Con! You can bet that my sister and I are regulars and we WILL be attending Teen Book Con again this year. With almost 40 authors in attendance, the panels are going to be plentiful and awesome! I’ve read books from several authors in attendance, and even if I’ve seen them at past events, I always enjoy hearing them speak again! These are the ones I’m most excited to see. (Clicking a book cover will link to its author’s website.)

Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Unremembered by Jessica Brody Splintered, by A. G. Howard False Memory, by Dan Krokos Lovely, Dark and Deep, by Amy McNamara  Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes and Michelle Rowen Hidden (Firelight #3) by Sophie Jordan The Madness Underneath (Shades of London #2) by Maureen Johnson Spellcaster by Claudia Gray

I haven’t read any of the books by Sophie Jordan, but I’ve seen her at signings a couple of times and she’s always interesting. I haven’t read anything by Maureen Johnson either, but she’s pretty entertaining and informative on twitter, so I’m interested to hear her speak at this event. And I’ve had Spellcaster by Claudia Gray on my to-read list for a while now, so I’ll probably pick it up at the event.

I’m so excited! I still can’t decide which books I’ll purchase at the event.

What are you looking forward to in April?
