Teaser Tuesday – Shades of Earth by Beth Revis

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week, my teaser comes from Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3). I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book after finishing A Million Suns, and I’m so glad I bought it! Once again, I’ll do a teaser from Amy and from Elder.

Amy:
“We made it,” I say.
“Yeah,” Elder replies, unable to keep the surprise from his voice. “We did…” His words are a breath of warmth at the back of my neck.
I turn around to meet his eyes, but my vision slides past him, to the door that leads to the hallway that leads to the cryo room.
“My parents,” I whisper.
I can finally have my parents back.

Elder:
Godspeed. My whole life is…was on that ship. Everything. Every memory I have, every feeling I felt, every important thing about me came from within those battered steel walls.
And I’m abandoning it.

Okay, those teasers really shouldn’t be spoilerific, especially if you know anything about the premise of this series. (They’re on a ship, which is on a mission to Centauri-Earth, where they’re going to start a new colony. The ship is filled with the people who live there, maintaining it, as well as 100 scientists and military people who are cryogenically frozen and will be woken up once they reach their target. (Amy was originally frozen but got woken up prematurely.))

    • Hahaha, I know the theme is fishing, which I’m not too interested in, but I love the water and sea creatures, so it still feels appropriate. :D

  1. I haven’t read ANY of these yet, the shame. Everyone raves about them though so when I do read them, I have no doubt I’ll love them too! Fun teaser!

So, what do YOU think?
