Book Bloggery Week-in-Review (1)

Every week, I sit and gush to everyone about how much I love their weekly wrap-up posts. And yet for some reason I keep thinking that I shouldn’t do one, because nobody would be interested in it. But then I thought, if I love everyone else‘s, then somebody likes them! Right? Right. So. Thus begins my attempt at a week-in-review from my corner of the book bloggery world. I hope you (somebody?) enjoy it.

In case you missed it…

I posted some stuff on my blog this week! Yay, I am a productive member of the blogging community. End-of-month weeks are always kind my favorite because I get to talk about all the cool things happening next month!

And cool things were posted by my some of favorite book bloggers

I’ve discovered so many great book blogs out there lately, and it’s been really hard to keep up with them all. However, I have now decided (and I should have done this sooner) to start keeping a list of my favorite posts each week so I can share them with you, the way that all of you do with me! My highlights from this week:

At last, I also have a question of the week.

What do you guys think of the header images for my blog posts? They’re only visible if you’re looking at the main page (or any view that shows multiple posts), not an individual post, which kinda bothers me. Should I keep up with them? Or are they not worth it, since they’re not always seen? Any comments would be appreciated.

So, how was your week?

  1. I love your header images! So definitely do keep them :). I’ve been trying to figure out how to do them myself, but i’ve had no such luck because I’m technologically challenged lol. It seems like you had an awesome blogging week! Have a great April Kelley!

    • Yay, I’m glad you like them! I was wondering if anyone ever saw them, lol. I enjoy making them (I’m just a Photoshop nerd sometimes), so it’s good to know that someone else likes them too. :D

  2. Yay! I actually enjoy these weekly wrap-up posts because it’s nice to have an easy way to see if I missed anything on the blogs I like (such as yours) and see what other interesting posts are out there that I might have missed!

In regards to your question, I actually really like the header images you create! I didn’t realize they don’t actually show up on the posts though, only on the main page. Maybe instead of using them as the featured image (which I’m assuming that’s what it is?), just insert them as images into the actual post so they always show up? That’s what I do. Of course, my headers are nowhere as pretty as yours and are just very plain and boring. (So jealous!)

But if it’s a lot of work either way, I say it’s up to you!

    • LOL I like your header images! They’re cute and they match your blog. :)

I have been thinking about that, just putting them at the top of the posts instead of using them as the featured images. Still not sure, though. I’m thinking about a lot of things regarding this blog and possibly moving to my own domain, which means a possible change in layout anyway, so…. We’ll see what I come up with. :D

      • Oh I’ve thought about getting my own domain and setting up through WP.org but have not allowed myself to really consider it until after I graduate. If you decide to do it though, let me know how it goes! No matter what, I’ll still be annoying you on your blog either way ;)

        • Hehehe, I hope so! Yeah, I really want to, because I just want more control (and a shorter URL). I just don’t have the extra cash right now, so I have to wait. Soon, though, hopefully!

    • I agree, very much. I’ve found so many awesome blogs and discussions from these recap posts, so it only makes sense that I should do the same. Don’t know why it took me so long.

  3. I love weekly wrap-ups! Last week i started participating in The Sunday Post and that was fun. I haven’t this week because I couldn’t be bothered (shameful I know!) but i DiD do a March wrap up-ish. I’m still trying to figure out the best monthly wrap-up format :)

  4. I like the header images as well! I noticed them the other day and thought they looked cool! I also see them in my Reader, so they stick out there and make me click on them, so definitely keep them!

I also love looking at people weekly wrap up posts, so keep doing them too because some times I get busy and miss posts, but always try to look at the weekly wrap ups people do to make sure I didn’t miss something really interesting! And I like finding new blogs by seeing what other people link to!

    Have a great week!

    • Oh excellent! I didn’t think about the headers showing up in readers, but that makes sense. Yay, glad you like them. :) I find I enjoy the weekly wrap-up posts for the same reasons. I find so many great discussions and blogs through them. Cheers!

  5. Ahaha, I think the problem with weekly wrap-up posts is that not everyone’s interested in knowing what went on with the blog the previous week! I do a weekly wrap-up post as well, and so far the most popular section is what my co-blogger and I received. Looks like your blog had a very interesting week, though – I’ll be sure to check out your review of FALLING KINGDOMS. And how could I resist a teaser from REQUIEM? ;)

I love your header images! I don’t mind that we’re not able to see them once you click on the post, since it captures attentions much better. :) I don’t think we can do that with Blogger… (GAH, BLOGGER.)

Hope you have a lovely week, Kelley!

P.S. I just discovered your blog and I have no idea what took me so long! I love it, your blog’s cute and fishy. ESPECIALLY THAT WORM. OH MY GOSH. SO CUTE. <3

    • Hi Megan! Well, I think the wrap-up posts are mostly enjoyable for the new things you share in them; I love the parts where people link to interesting things they saw/read that week. Though some people have said they enjoy the wrap-ups because they might have missed something earlier in the week and these posts give them a chance to see them again.

I’m glad you like the header images. :) I honestly didn’t know if anyone was seeing them, since I figure most people visit individual posts through readers, etc. But I’ve gotten a decent amount of feedback that says otherwise, so yay!

Thanks for visiting, and it’s nice to meet you. :D (Also, yes, I love this blog theme and I’m so glad I found it. I love that little worm!)

  6. It seems like you had a great week! :) To answer your question, I love the header images, they bring attention to your posts and I like that they don’t show up once you click the post, because if I clicked it, it already caught my attention and I don’t need to see the image again at the top… do you get what I mean? I don’t know if I make sense. But anyways, the header images look great. :)

  7. I think this is a great weekly wrap-up. I would never have the energy to do one of these, but I like how you summarise everything and I do adore the banners as you know! :)

  8. This is a fantastic weekly wrap-up. Two thumbs way, way up! :) And I LOVE how you feature cool blog posts you ran across this week. Very super cool. And truthfully, as I clicked on this post title to bring me here, I was admiring the big beautiful images you have as your headers. I vote… Keep them. They make you noticeable and unique, and demonstrate your awesome and obvious appreciation of good graphic design and your rockin’ PS-ing skillz. :)

    • Awww, thanks so much, Dani! I’m glad that people are seeing and liking my banner images. And yes, it is fun to play around in Photoshop. I haven’t gotten to do much of it in years! :)

  9. Thanks for linking to my manifesto! :D

Also, I love your banners – they’re so pretty and when I’m on your main page, it really separates each post :)

So, what do YOU think?
