Waiting on Wednesday – These Broken Stars by Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating.

These Broken Stars by Meagan Spooner and Amie KaufmanComing December 10, 2013

It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

The first in a sweeping science fiction trilogy, These Broken Stars is a timeless love story about hope and survival in the face of unthinkable odds.

Number 1, it’s by Meagan Spooner, whose books so far I LOVE! Number 2, have you SEEN that COVER? It’s so gorgeous. Number 3, have you READ that DESCRIPTION? It has space travel and it sounds SUPER interesting! I cannot wait! I can’t believe it’s still so far away. Sigh! (I know, everyone was waiting on this LAST week, but I too am desperately wanting this book!)

  1. I’m excited for this one, too! I have to admit, I was a little disappointed with Skylark but I’m still very interested in her other works. Plus, that cover. And the synopsis. And pretty much everything you said. Yeah, December is a long way off…

  2. YES. Just yes. :D Everything about this book screams potential awesome. Crossing fingers & toes and wishing on stars (broken or otherwise) that it will be. :)

  3. Oh my gosh I am SO waiting for this also! It’s a lovely cover and the story sounds amazing too! Great choice! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Ooh, yes!! I can’t wait for this book either. Stranded-on-a-deserted-island stories are awesome — add the scifi twist of stranded-on-a-deserted-planet, and I am so there. ;D

    My WoW

  5. I haven’t read anything by Meagan Spooner, but I’m with you on that beautiful cover! And I always can do with some scifi reading. Hmm. Not totally sold on the summary though, just because I don’t want it to be so focused on the love. Even though it’s not being released until a long time from now, I will be checking on your blog to see what you say about it! So you better read this and review it because me reading it will all depend on you! (Pressure!) :P

    • Hahahaha! Well in that case, I’m going to hope very hard that my sister gets an ARC of this book so that I can read it and review it, just for you! :D If you get a chance to read Skylark, though, it’s worth a read. I really enjoyed it.

    • OMFG…. Asti… My sister just messaged me and told me that she got an ARC of this book in the mail today! So… expect a review from me… sometime in the next 2 months. ;D

      • Haha! Perfect! You have become one of my top sites for reviews now with all these books your getting me excited about! Don’t fail me! ;)

  6. YES. I am definitely waiting for this one as well. Love this cover. Great pick! Thanks for stopping by my post!

  7. I’m in love with this cover! And I haven’t read anything by these authors yet so I need to get with the program :) Glad to see another Sci-Fi trilogy – maybe it’ll fill that Across the Universe void. Great choice!

    • I agree about the need for more sci-fi (especially SPACE) books in YA! It’s a debut novel for Amie Kaufman, and last year Meagan Spooner debuted with Skylark, so there’s not much to read from them yet at all. However, I still can’t wait for this! :)
