Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating.
Coming September 24, 2013
A masterful, twisted tale of ambition, jealousy, betrayal, and
superpowers, set in a near-future world.Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong.
Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will.
Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the archnemeses have set a course for revenge—but who will be left alive at the end?
I mean, another Schwab novel – I have to have it! Plus, I just finished reading Watchmen, so I’m all in the mood for stories like this! Doesn’t it just sound delightfully crazy?! Plus, that cover is fricking amazing. PLUS, it comes out on my birthday so it’s like it’s meant to be!
Oh my! I had not heard of this book before, and it sounds AWESOME. Kinda like a Dr. X/Magneto kind of rivalry but more morally murky. <– Totally love stories that ride that morally grey line. Thanks for introducing me to this one :) And thanks for visiting our WoW!
Yay, I’m glad I’ve introduced you to a new book! I’m so excited for this one. :D
I haven’t read this author, but this one sounds tempting.. Thanks for sharing, and here’s MY WOW POST
If you get the chance, I definitely recommend V. E. Schwab! She has quite the way with words. :)
I’ve never heard of this author but seeing this cover around a lot these days. :) Sounds like a good one!
My WoW Pick!
Yes, I’m glad the word is getting out about this book! Cheers. :)
I am very eager for this one as well! I love Victoria Schwab! And the premise is so intriguing.
Yeah, she’s great! She’s so excited about this book that it makes ME more excited, lol.
Sounds thrilling!! Here’s my WoW: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2013/03/waiting-on-wednesday-witch-of-little.html
Indeed! Thanks for visiting. :)
I absolutely loved The Archived, so I pretty much want to read anything by Schwab now! This one sounds really good, I agree with one of the other posters that it sounds somewhat like X-men, so pretty much going to be awesome!
Yeah, that’s how I became a Schwab fan: I read The Near Witch and fell in love with her writing! If you haven’t read that yet, I suggest you do! And then read the short story that accompanies it. SO GOOD! <3
I am totally waiting on this as well! I may do this for my WOW next week, in fact. Awesome choice! Thanks for visiting!
Hehehe, yay! Cheers, and thanks for visiting. :)
Oooh what a great find. This sounds like one I would really enjoy!

Yay, glad you like it! :)
This sounds really interesting. I haven’t heard of it until now, but I’m definitely adding it to my wishlist. And I love the new banners that make up the front of the post. I haven’t seen that before. Quite groovy! :)
Aww, thanks, glad you like them! Yeah, I added them recently, so only the posts from March have them so far. I wish they showed up on the individual post pages, too, but oh well.
Is it part of your theme or not? It definitely is a shame about that.
Well, it’s the “featured image” that you can set on each post. I think different themes just handle them in different ways.
I need to finish reading The Archived! I really love the art of this book and it sounds FANTASTIC.
Yes, it DOES! I hope you enjoy The Archived as much as I did. Victoria Schwab is so great!
Thank you so, so much for featuring VICIOUS! This made my week :)
Awww, yay! I think your excitement for VICIOUS is just infectious! :)
