Teaser Tuesday – Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week, my teaser comes from Keeper of the Lost Cities which is an adorably awesome book! I hope my teaser (if not that super-cool cover — and the description) convinces you that you want to read this book, if you haven’t already!

“Why did you take your picture with a guy in a giant mouse suit? Actually — better question: Why would anyone wear a giant mouse suit?”

“We’re at Disneyland.”

His head snapped up. “I have my own land?”

“What?”

“My last name is Dizznee.”

She laughed. “I’m pretty sure it’s a coincidence.”

He squinted at the picture. “Are you wearing fairy wings?”

“Okay, I think we’ve had enough fun with the photos.” She pulled the scrapbook away from him before he found anything else to make fun of.

So, that exchange was between Sophie, the main (adorable) character, and he new friend Dex, who has made himself at home in her room, gawking at all of her “human” things. The whole book is just as cute and adorable and lighthearted and I just want to squeeze it and hug it and pinch its adorable cheeks!
