Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week, my teaser comes from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I’ve seen this book (and its author) all over the place, so I decided I should finally read the book!
From Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs
It was my grandfather’s island. Looming and bleak, folded in mist, guarded by a million screeching birds, it looked like some ancient fortress constructed by giants. As I gazed up at its sheer cliffs, tops disappearing in a reef of ghostly clouds, the idea that this was a magical place didn’t seem so ridiculous.
In this story, the main character’s grandfather tells him all kinds of magical tales about the island where he grew up, and then he has a chance to actually visit the island, as you can see from the teaser.
This one is on my tbr list. I have the book now need to get to it
Yeah, that’s how it was for me, too. I was finally able to get to it when I was stranded with no other books to read, lol!
I have had this one on my TBR mountain for quite a while. Your teaser tempts me to move it closer to the top. Come see my teasers for Necessity’s Child by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller and Unremembered by Jessica Brody. Happy reading!
Hahaha, TBR mountain! Yeah, I wasn’t sure about this book, but the more I read it, the more it grows on me.
This one has been on my list…now I’m really tempted! Here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
Haha, looks like it’s on everyone’s list! Maybe I was mistaken in thinking everyone but me had read this already. :)
Sounds creepy! Visiting from the Teaser Tuesday meme.
It *seems* creepy, but it’s really not. :) Thanks for visiting!
That’s a fantastic teaser — totally intrigued by that and the cover! Here’s my TT post!
Oh, I know, isn’t that cover cool? Apparently that image (along with all the other vintage photos in this book) was a *found image*. At first I thought they were all staged and taken for the book, but that’s not the case. So cool!
I have seen this one around quite a bit, but have not been sure whether I would like it. My teaser: The Elegance of the Hedgehog
My thoughts exactly! I finally decided to read it, and I am enjoying it, but I still don’t think it’s going to be one of my top-rated books.
This is a great book! I love all the pictures in it. :)
Yes, I’m really enjoying all the pictures, too. Even though I’m reading the Kindle edition — on my phone! — which makes it kinda hard to see all of them. I think it’s fascinating that all of the images are found, and he weaved a story using them as illustration!
The cover kind of scares me haha, but great teaser! I’ve definitely seen it around a lot too. Is the book quite creepy? Hope you’re enjoying it and thanks for sharing!
Here’s my teaser at Bookmunchies & feel free to check out our Giveaway.
Haha! You’re not the only person who finds that cover creepy. I think, though, overall this book isn’t really very creepy. It’s more… mysterious and… peculiar. :)
